Troubleshooting

Steps that require extra care

Trim the top clip

To help the iPod close cleanly, trim the top clip on the back of the faceplate. Sturdy scissors usually work. Pliers can help if needed.

Secure the cables

Many issues come from cables that are not fully seated, even when they appear connected.

Make sure both ends of the cables are pushed all the way into their connectors. Use your fingernail to gently push the cables fully in, then tape them down to keep them from shifting.

If it still does not work, press down firmly on the connectors to help the cable make contact. Do not press too hard.

Troubleshooting

Bluetooth Audio & Control

Sound only plays from one side

Please check the cable connection first.

The cable may look fully connected when it is not. See the Secure the cables section above and reseat the cable carefully.

Haptic feedback / hold button does not work

Please check the cable connection first.

The cable may look fully connected when it is not. See the Secure the cables section above and reseat the cable carefully.

Bluetooth device does not work

Classic Connect 2 may not be compatible with every Bluetooth device. Please refer to our Compatibility page.

If possible, try another Bluetooth device to check whether the issue is device-specific.

Bluetooth indicator light stays on

A solid white light means Classic Connect 2 is searching for a device to pair with.

If Classic Connect 2 has been paired with more than one device, it may be trying to connect to one device while already paired with another.

Try forgetting Classic Connect 2 from Bluetooth settings on devices you are not using, then pair again with your preferred device.

Classic Connect does not turn off

Ensure you press and hold the power button firmly.

If it turns back on, simply repeat the process, holding the button longer to ensure a complete power-off.

USB-C & Wireless Charging

USB-C or wireless charging does not work

Please note that USB-C and wireless charging do not show a charging animation or indicator.

The iPod may still be charging. Please charge it for 30–40 minutes, then check the battery level again.

If the battery level does not increase, check the cable connection.

USB-C syncing does not work

USB-C data transfer only works after soldering. This includes syncing and audio playback over USB-C.

This is the only Classic Connect 2 feature that requires soldering. See the Soldering guide for USB-C data transfer.

Physical Fit

iPod does not close properly

Please check the following:

  1. Trim the top clip on the back of the faceplate.
  2. Remove the bottom sponges.
  3. Remove the sponges on your storage adapter.
  4. Make sure your storage and battery setup is compatible with Classic Connect 2.

The original iPod hard drive does not fit with Classic Connect 2. Please check the Compatibility page for storage and battery options that are known to fit.

If you are using an iPod Video faceplate, the faceplate may sit slightly raised, because Classic Connect 2 is designed around the iPod Classic body. This will not affect normal use.
